Blue Plaques in Yangon
The Yangon Heritage Trust, Yangon City Development Committee and supporting partners honor key heritage sites throughout Yangon by installation of the commemorative Blue Plaques. Blue Plaques are permanent signs installed at a public place to commemorate a link between that location and a famous person, event, or landmark—serving as a kind of historical marker.
Blue Plaques are one of the most effective and visible means to celebrate Yangon’s rich history. With their direct appeal to the public, the introduction of commemorative Blue Plaques will make Yangon’s history accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.
We have 36 Blue Plaques installed at the wide range of places from the City Hall to a writer’s home to a landmark tree in the historic Yangon University’s campus.
